Freezer Meal Attempt

Last week I had this "brilliant" idea to make a bunch of freezer meals. With both of us working full time we end up spending a lot of money eating out. I'm so tired of our money going toward food, so I thought I would give this a shot. Thursday I found some meals on Pinterest that I thought looked good and made my shopping list. On Saturday morning we made a HUGE Walmart and Costco run. And then I spent the entire afternoon (like the ENTIRE afternoon) in the kitchen. But I ended up with 14 freezer meals that averaged $7.60 each. I figured that with leftovers each one will last us for two dinners!

Our groceries. I had already put away the massive amounts of chicken we bought.
The finished product. I mean if this doesn't scream Mormon housewife, I don't know what does?!

salsa

Last Saturday my sisters and I decided to harness our inner Martha and can salsa. Believe it!

I have never come close to doing anything of the sort before. Good thing my oldest sister is no stranger to canning. Basically we chopped and chopped and chopped tomatoes. Not gonna lie. It turned out bomb. I may or may not have had chips and salsa for dinner 2 out of the next 3 days.

As you can tell the little girls helped out a lot. Haha. They're always good entertainment. We got pizza for lunch and the football game. The football game had started by then. The guys were already glued to the TV.

a sweet tooth (fairy)

Cupcakes are the in thing right now.
But all cupcakes are not created equal.
Trust me. I know my cake.
Remember this post?

The other day I, along with other women I work with,
was fortunate to get a tutorial from the owner of The Sweet Tooth Fairy.

The Sweet Tooth Fairy is a local cupcake place and it is bomb!
Like rivals Magnolia's in NYC bomb.
I could eat one (or three) every day.
The end.

Our Family Recipe Blog

I love my mom. She herself has coined certain phrases that our family always repeats. If ever we go to a get-together, party, dinner, etc. and there was something we thought was delicious she will ask, with no fail, Did you get the recipe? I can call it before the words come out of her mouth.

As a family we enjoy cooking ... a good meal really. I have an entire folder dedicated in my gmail account solely to the recipes that either my mom or my sisters have sent to me. I started having the hardest time tracking specific ones down. It kind of got out of control. One of my sisters decided it would be a good idea to start a family recipe blog to keep it more centralized.

It's called Betsy's Recipes.
Do not get confused. That is not my mom's name.
Just our nickname for her.

Not familiar with Betsy? Click Here.

We're no gourmet chefs, but these are Did you get the recipe? worthy.

Go ahead. Check it out.

Betsy's Recipes

The recipes are easy EASY. Even you could do it!
Another coined phrase from my mom.

{ let's discuss }

I guess I should say Let Me Discuss...

So I was having a conversation with some friends the other day about something close to our hearts (or taste buds). We were talking about how
Easter candy was already in grocery stores. It was February still. Easter is April 4th people.

As we dove deeper (as deep as you can get talking about candy) we came to a conclusion. We agreed that out of all the holidays ... Easter has the best candy. Hands Down.

Believe me and my "Johnson" sweet tooth. The other holidays have their good stuff, I'll admit. But let's be honest here, nothing can beat
Mini Cadbury Eggs and Starburst Jelly Beans.

We did conclude that it would be a bad thing if they were readily available year-round. The taste-buds would actually enjoy it. Umm not so much the waistline.
