Our House: Main Floor

I've had a couple people ask to see pictures of our house. We've almost been in our house a year and I haven't posted any post-move-in pictures (pre move-in pics here). Fail. I guess I'm such a perfectionist and indecisive that I was waiting to be completely satisfied with how it's decorated before I posted pictures.

Welp, our house pretty much hasn't changed for like 6 months. Here and there I've added a little, but I have a feeling it's going to be years until I'm satisfied. Below are pictures of the main floor of our house (minus a half bath and a couple closets).

Top Priorities:
+ Add color. Add color. Add color. I'm thinking in the form of pillows ... and paint if I get brave.
+ Put up more wall art (majorly lacking).
+ Add a lamp and decorations on the entry way table.

Signed Sealed Delivered, It's ours!

It's official. The papers are signed. We closed yesterday.
WE ARE HOMEOWNERS!

I am so ready to play house.

Cause it's just too surreal that I am old enough to own a house. Since when did I become an adult?

Play house, like you know, maybe finally bust out the wedding gifts. I've forgotten half the stuff we got.  ...

Play house like organize my walk-in closet. Ya you heard me. If you can't find me I'll be in my closet playing dress-up.

Play house like set up the kitchen (maybe actually cook if Scotty's lucky) ... AND use a dishwasher after said cooking ... Oh and decorate!

P.S. Moving process is so expensive and exhausting! Agreed? I'm so glad this will be my last move for a while. I'm ready to stay put.

life according to my phone

1. To say Scotty was excited to see Neil Diamond in concert would be an understatement. Please notice the shirt he HAD to have. We went with the McKell's to the Neil Diamond concert on August 28th (which is now officially Neil Diamond Day in Utah in case you were wondering). It was actually a very fun and entertaining concert. Between the actual concert and the 75 year-old man singing and dancing in front of us, I was completely entertained.

2. We have officially started a SNO for the Johnson sisters. A.K.A. Sisters Night Out!  One evening after work I met Lindsey and Stephanie at City Creek. We went to Blue Lemon and shopped of course! It was so fun!!! It's gonna start becoming a monthly thing. Yaya, you can come this month if you end up coming to Utah.

3. I ran 8 miles! Fist pumps. This was the farthest I have run since the blood clots. I was so proud of myself. It's been pretty rough recovering from it physically. It makes it a lot easier to have friends run with you ... and have Kneaders and a Diet Coke for a reward.

4. We're on the downhill slope of furniture purchasing. Thank goodness! Our dining chairs have been sitting in boxes in our living room for weeks now. I cannot wait to be able to pull them out.

5. I made this Anthropologie knock off to put in our new kitchen. It cost me a whopping $10 to make. I told Scotty it's to remind me in case I ever forget to eat. Oh wait, I NEVER forget to eat.

6. We helped Stephanie move the other night. It was actually a lot of fun! We ended up shoving the queen-sized mattress into the 4Runner and putting the box spring on the top, while me and Stephanie leaned out the window holding onto that box spring.Only in Provo. It was a spectacle for sure!

Home Sweet Home

Did I forget to mention we'll soon be homeowners? We are in the process of building a town home and I am beyond excited for it! I love moving into a new place and decorating. The best part is that it will be all ours! Well actually in 30 years it will be ours, but that's besides the point.

Hot off the press. I took this today.

In all honesty I feel extremely blessed to be able to buy a house right now! When we were looking for a home it was the first one we looked at. You could say it was love at first sight. We continued looking, but kept coming back to this particular neighborhood. It is perfect for us in our situation right now. And with the housing market how it is, we would've been stupid to pass up the opportunity.

It has been fun watching it go from literally a hole in the ground, to an actual structure with walls and rooms. I have loved watching it come together into what will soon be our home, where I can have all of my belongings under one roof again ... and have a dishwasher!

Here is some of the transformation through different stages...

Probably my favorite thing was to actually choose the finishings (i.e. paint, carpet, flooring). It was a little nerve racking choosing an entire house off of samples (see below), but I have been so pleased with how it has turned out!

In front of our house.
Don't mind my fat face (or moon face as it's called) ... oh the joys of my medicine.
