I Heart Weekends

Our weekend was pretty uneventful. I have decided that I kinda like uneventful. I get a lot done with uneventful. It is also very relaxing.

I decorated for Valentine's Day the first time ever. I mean this isn't much, but it's a start. I printed these free printables at Walmart and after the worst experience there, it is quite the accomplishment that they actually made it up.

We are couch-less right now. We sold our old couches and the new ones will be delivered this week. Scotty wanted to watch the basketball game in HD so we improvised by bringing our extra mattress downstairs and created a makeshift couch. It is pretty comfy if I do say so myself.

Now it's Monday. Woof.

But, seriously.

Home Sweet Home

Did I forget to mention we'll soon be homeowners? We are in the process of building a town home and I am beyond excited for it! I love moving into a new place and decorating. The best part is that it will be all ours! Well actually in 30 years it will be ours, but that's besides the point.

Hot off the press. I took this today.

In all honesty I feel extremely blessed to be able to buy a house right now! When we were looking for a home it was the first one we looked at. You could say it was love at first sight. We continued looking, but kept coming back to this particular neighborhood. It is perfect for us in our situation right now. And with the housing market how it is, we would've been stupid to pass up the opportunity.

It has been fun watching it go from literally a hole in the ground, to an actual structure with walls and rooms. I have loved watching it come together into what will soon be our home, where I can have all of my belongings under one roof again ... and have a dishwasher!

Here is some of the transformation through different stages...

Exterior.

Living room.

Kitchen.

Entryway.

Upstairs landing.

Probably my favorite thing was to actually choose the finishings (i.e. paint, carpet, flooring). It was a little nerve racking choosing an entire house off of samples (see below), but I have been so pleased with how it has turned out!

In front of our house.
Don't mind my fat face (or moon face as it's called) ... oh the joys of my medicine.

Just dreaming

It's no secret. I love to decorate. I wish I could get paid to decorate people's homes for them. Better yet, I wish people gave me money to decorate my own home.

Sometimes I'll be on pinterest and joke with Scotty that I'm decorating the house we don't have. That soon may become a reality! Though I still think I'll have to keep dreaming ... I mean furniture is expensive!

Here are some pieces and styles I'm loving/eying for our imaginary home...well imaginary at least for now...

my little space

I've always been a home-body. There is nothing like being home.
Since being on my own have I loved having my bedroom that can be a little oasis.
Not to mention I have the most comfy bed ever made.

wardrobe wednesday: the end

As with my sister, I have decided to officially resign from Wardrobe Wednesday.
I know you're sad. Insert sarcasm.

When I committed to it I didn't realize that Wednesdays, out of all days of the week, are by far the busiest.
Hence I am blogging on a Thursday ... and not Wednesday.

It is usually Wednesdays that I won't wash my hair and just throw it in a ponytail.
It is usually Wednesdays that I pick up whatever matches that is already on my closet floor.
It is usually Wednesdays that I end up running around like a mad woman trying to knock things off my to-do list.
And let's be straight up here.
If you don't catch me before 7 p.m., you'll find me in my sweats.

But I really do get ready (most days).
And since I can only show you my good side (haha. yeah right) ...
I figure it is better to give myself some wiggle room.

We're changing it to Wardrobe Whatever Day.
Get it?

This way we can blog whenever we feel like it (have time). Cool?

P.S. This is pretty much my dream closet.

wild side

If you know me, you know I like animal prints.
Not to the extent where it is obnoxious.
Well at least I think so. So naturally I used my leopard shoes and
zebra-print stool to show juxtaposition for my class assignment.

Note: No animals were harmed in the taking of this picture. All are faux prints. Ha.
Clearly. Those shoe only cost me $5 dollars.

{ please, do come in }

After several nudges from my family, I am posting photos of my
new home. We are mostly settled in, though we still have boxes that are untouched. I have only been living here a week but it feels like home. I feel so blessed to be living such great people and to have found this house.

And now for the grand tour...

And now for my room ... Don't know what I'm going to do above my bed yet. It's a work in progress.

Thanks for stopping by.

(sorry for those who didn't really care)
