wardrobe wednesday: the end

As with my sister, I have decided to officially resign from Wardrobe Wednesday.
I know you're sad. Insert sarcasm.

When I committed to it I didn't realize that Wednesdays, out of all days of the week, are by far the busiest.
Hence I am blogging on a Thursday ... and not Wednesday.

It is usually Wednesdays that I won't wash my hair and just throw it in a ponytail.
It is usually Wednesdays that I pick up whatever matches that is already on my closet floor.
It is usually Wednesdays that I end up running around like a mad woman trying to knock things off my to-do list.
And let's be straight up here.
If you don't catch me before 7 p.m., you'll find me in my sweats.

But I really do get ready (most days).
And since I can only show you my good side (haha. yeah right) ...
I figure it is better to give myself some wiggle room.

We're changing it to Wardrobe Whatever Day.
Get it?

This way we can blog whenever we feel like it (have time). Cool?

P.S. This is pretty much my dream closet.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Smeared Mascara

My smeared mascara.
Just a little added something today.
Only the best. Only the best.

Scottie left on his mission today.

Met up with the fam (well the ones in Utah).
Went to lunch.
Said our goodbyes.
Dropped him off.
And then bawled my eyes out.
It was such a happy/sad day for me.

I just love these people.

Cardigan: Nordstroms Tank: Target Jeans: Gap Boots: Steve Madden Necklace: Loft

Alli's gonna miss her uncle Scottie too.
After we said our goodbyes he didn't look back.
I miss him already.  Love you bubs. So proud of you.

Smeared mascara. It's the new thing.
At least for today.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Black, White and Peach All Over

Hat and Belt: Borrowed from Steph  Shirt: Target  Pants: Limited  Shoes: DSW  Earrings: Loft

Hey peeps. Wednesday has rolled around yet again and I'm still suffering from a major case of writer's block and I refuse to start talking about the weather ... which is so bad by the way. It snowed yesterday.

So guess what? We're going to talk nails. Pretty sure Essie has become my new favorite brand of nail polish. I went to the store last night and came back with two different colors. With chipped nails on me I was more than anxious to try it out. By the end of the night an episode of Lost I had fallen in love with peach daiquiri .

Yep. I just blogged about nail polish. What are some colors you love?

Happy Wednesday.
I'm off to watch another episode of Lost.
And Happy Birthday Yaya!
Love you.

Wardrobe Wednesday: just some life stuff

Today has been one of those days.
One of those days where you sit back and realize how blessed you are.
I woke up this morning feeling very grateful for my life.
And realizing I need to enjoy it more.

In all of living have much fun and laughter.
Life is to be enjoyed not just endured.

What makes you happy today?
Just curious.
Would love to know.

Oh and Happy Wednesday!

Wardrobe Wednesday: M.I.A

Please excuse my absence.

I've been spending A LOT of time with these crazy hooligans....

And this sweet girl...

Grandma and Grandpa J are in town .

Which means A LOT of family time ...
And I love it!

Yesterday after work we got much needed pedicures. Well the girls did. We went to the same place Carrie Underwood went when she was here. We're pretty much celebrities now.

Then we made dinner at my and Stephanie's house and scarfed it down in front of the TV because, heaven forbid, my dad would have otherwise missed Survivor. We finished out the night with rousing game of rummicu. Pretty exciting stuff I know.

Today's agenda included meeting for lunch at the mall food court.
Can anyone say Chik-Fil-A?
High rollers, we are.

My sisters. Just missing one.
Don't worry Yaya, you get to see me up close and personal a week from today.

I'll be back in action sooner or later.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Cool Beans

( Blazer: Gap Tank: F21 Pants: Gap Flats: Aldo Necklace: Bijou Market )

Hot Rod. Such a funny movie. Agree?

I was reminded last night just how funny that movie is as I re-watched this scene.
I know what you're thinking ... where do you get off? Alright. I'll stop.

Here are the things making my week pretty dang cool...

Cool beans. Cool week. Get it?
Just roll with me, ok?

Starbucks steamers. Mmmm'mm good. I love me some Starbucks (sans coffee of course). I this must be a result of growing up in Washington and meeting my friends there weekly.

Criminal Minds. Hellooooo TV marathon. It is on all the time here and it just sucks you right in. It's really starting to cut into my sleep schedule.

Ahh-mazing tax returns. Thanks dad! And yes I still have my dad do my taxes... just in case you were wondering... and I know you were. I mean my blind date a while back seemed to care. Click here. You won't regret it.

General Conference. One of my favorite weekends of the year. You can bet your bottom dollar I will be on my couch pretty much all weekend long.

My family coming into town. Gotta love the fact that The Major is retired. According to my mom they are more "flexible" now. Translation ... they really don't know what to do with themselves anymore so why not go on another trip to Utah?

Purchasing a flight for a much needed, kind of last-minute, vacation. I am getting super excited to get outta here. Windy city here I come! Oh and girls trip to St. George in May with the sole purpose of just laying by the pool? Yes, please.

Also...

Today is my mom's birthday. Happy Birthday!

I am so grateful to have the mother that I do and that she is, in her words, still alive and kicking.  I thank my heavenly father every day for the parents I have.

My mom is probably one of the funniest people I know. There are few people who can make me laugh as much as she does. Though we usually end up teasing her to no end, she somehow still claims us.

She's the best. Truly. She has taught me so many life lessons and is always there for me.

Not to mention she's one stylin' lady.

Love you Jo-Mama.
Oh ya, and Happy Wednesday!

Wardrobe Wednesday 12: a'ight peeps

I've debated for a while whether or not to do this ... but I'm curious like a cat.

It's a funny thing, blogging is.
It makes the world just a little bit smaller. Do we agree?

A fellow blogging friend recently had an experience where she was at work and some random man recognized her from her blog.

It has happened to me before. I'll see someone at the mall and recognize them from their blogs. I just don't ever say anything. I usually feel a little stalker-ish and chuckle to myself, but quickly get over it and continue shopping (I mean shopping is serious business).

It actually just happened last week. My sister and I met up for lunch. While we were sitting there she pointed out a girl who looked very similar to so-and-so from such-and-such blog.We had a two minute conversation going back and forth ... finally concluding it wasn't her.

So I've been thinking of who actually reads this thing. I want to know who you are. Don't be ashamed. I would love to find out who you are. I feel like I kinda know some of you already ... but only by city thanks to google analytics. I mean I could call you out by city if you want.

So humor me, will ya, and let me know who you are?
Don't be shy. Even if I know you in real life.

or
Follow me.

Either way works.
Heck you could do both.
But I would love to find out who you are.

Happy Wednesday!

Sweater: Nordy's; Tank: Target; Skirt/Necklace: Loft; Boots: Steve Madden; My crazy eye? That's au natural.

Speaking of Peeps ... it's dangerous that Easter candy is here. I don't even like peeps but it reminded me of my favorite Easter candy. I have already gone through two bags of starburst jelly beans and I steal mini cadbury eggs from Gillian every day at work. I told you, dangerous.

Wardrobe Wednesday 11: Frumpy McFrumpster

It's that time of year.

No I'm not going to start talking about how swimsuit season is fast approaching ... I am not even ready to tackle that subject.

I'm talking about how in February and March I always just feel frumpy. Maybe it's just me. I'm tired of my wardrobe. Sick of wearing coats and socks (I hate socks. They're so constricting). I just don't feel cute during this time of year.

So I went shopping last weekend.
I don't care what they say ... retail therapy is real!
Thanks mom for teaching me that.

Got some much needed skirts. Can I ask a question why skirts right now fall into the almost long enough category? They are always an inch or two too short. Conspiracy perhaps?

Annnnnyway ... back to my point.

Nordstrom's Triple Points starts today. This is not good for the ol' bank account when the closet desperately needs updating. With my sister here now, though, I can pretend I am a high-roller in the Nordstrom world. Why? I pretty much have my own personal shopper. She tells me when they get cute clothes in and I go buy them. It's a pretty good system we have.

So you know where to find me this evening. If I am not out by closing please send someone in to find me. My bank account might need some resuscitating.

Speaking of frumpy. I am getting my hair did this weekend. Saturday can't come soon enough. Can we say split ends? And my mullet is coming back in full force. (The hair on the back side of my head grows faster than the front side. Weird. I know. I call it my mullet. Business in the front, party in the back, right?)

Thinking of going blonde. Like B-L-O-N-D-E. I am tired of the blah blonde I have going on. Thoughts? And I hear short hair is back in. I knew if I waited long enough (i.e. my hair just doesn't grow) I would be back "in." And it's gonna be short still now that I have to get this dang mullet under control.

So here's to Triple Points and Blond(er) hair.
Maybe by the end of March I won't feel as frumpy.
At the very least I'll be sans roots. Yikes.

Wardrobe Wednesday 10: Sister, Sister

Tonight I was able to take my new roommate to the BYU Football Banquet. My new roommate also happens to be my sister. Yes. We combined our wardrobe wednesday to document the fact that not only do we live in the same state, but the same condo. Watch out world.

Oh and if you think I got ready in 25 minutes ... you're right. Record time for me (hence no jewelry). Shower and everything. I didn't even know that was possible.

Dress: Nordstrom Rack  Sweater: Gap   Belt: Downeast Outfitters  Shoes: Nordstrom Rack
My homegirls and I couldn't pass up a photo op at a work function (and then blog about it).

This time it took a few shots to get right. Clearly.

Oh and you should go to Stephanie's blog to see her wardrobe wednesday.

Wardrobe Wednesday 8: Alliteration

Two words can describe my Wednesday.
Busy and black.
Work was busy.
My outfit was black.

Wardrobe Wednesday 7: Mix Ups

Shoes: DSW  Jeans: Gap  T-Shirt: You wish you could get my cool shirt

Today I wore jeans.
This is a big deal for me to be in jeans on a Wednesday.
Everyone at work wore these shirts (or a variation of them)
as part of a campus-wide campaign.
I just got to benefit from it.
So nice having my outfit picked out for me this morning.

It couldn't have come at a better time either.
I think I need to start getting more sleep.
Yesterday I came home at lunch to find
my cereal box in the fridge.

Wardrobe Wednesday 6: Done and Done

It's a miracle!

Not only did I not forget, but I actually posted.

Look at me go!

Watched the Super Bowl over the weekend. Definitely disappointed in the commercials this year. I only liked this one. Didn't even notice the national anthem mess up. Guess I was too busy betting the length of time ... I started looking at flights to Chicago. Yaya I don't know if I can afford that. Want to contribute to my Chi-Town fund? I really need to see little wiggle britches (as Scott would say), Ed the Bachelor, oh and you ... Decided to do the dirty dash in June. Pretty stoked about it ... Please disregard my unmade bed in the background. I could lie and tell you it's made now but I won't ... Went to lunch with some girlfriends today. I had never been to Rubio's before. Good stuff. So fun to catch up with them ... Last but not least, it's Wednesday. And that makes me happy....

Wardrobe Wednesday: Fail

I am failing at this whole Wardrobe Wednesday thing (Sorry Stephie). Why do Wednesdays have to be the busiest days of the week??? And also the days of the week I really don't feel like getting ready. I am not even going to pretend that I did it. I didn't. So I'm just going to start fresh next week.

With the sub-zero temps I have started thinking about going into hiding. Not really, but it is so cold outside and I have so much going on that hiding (i.e. curling up in a blanket with some hot chocolate) sounds a lot more appealing.

I can't complain because all of the busy-ness are not bad things. All good things ... though I am having a hard time sleemping lately and my room has become a war zone again.

Anyway ... here are some tid-bits running through this head of mine ...

It was groundhogs day yesterday.
Though it's such a wives tale, I am happy to report the groundhog did not see his shadow.
Which means spring will come early!
I think I've decided to believe it for at least this year.

I bought a new swimsuit online in red.
Super excited about it.
I'm a little anxious for warm weather.
Can you tell?

Can someone please tell me what happened to Southwest's direct flight from Salt Lake to Spokane?
I'm a little bugged.
Delta might be getting more business from me just so
I don't have to fly all the way to Phoenix to make it to Washington.
Logistics people. Logistics.

I got a smart phone.
It has pretty much changed my life.
I feel like have finally arrived in the 21st century.

I saw the new iPod nano yesterday.
I am in love.
Small? 16G's? Touch screen and a clip?
For running? Yes please.

My family is out of control.
Only they will know why I am saying that.
I'll admit it's pretty funny ... but out of control. :)

Wardrobe Wednesday Numero Tres

Not much to say today. It's Wednesday in case you didn't know. It was a big day at work. I guess I should say big night. I was a little nervous before the basketball game (if you couldn't tell from the picture). Work is a lot more enjoyable after a big win like tonight. Go Cougs!

Sweater: TJ Maxx  Slacks: The Limited (via TJ Maxx)  Shoes: Nine West Nuncio

Looks like it was a TJ Maxx kind of day.

Wednesday turn Thursday

Cowl Scarf: Cherry Lane Boutique  Shirt: Macy's  Pants: Gap  Boots: Nordstrom

Wardrobe Wednesday just didn't happen yesterday.

When I received a guilt trip via text, I decided to stop slacking.

So I'm pretending today is Wednesday. Humor me.

It's been a busy week. Good, but busy.  I am not even going to mention that I already wore this outfit once this week ... Oh wait ...

Yesterday was particularly a good day. I love when the unexpected happens... for the positive of course. The only thing that could have made it better was a four mile run that I just couldn't fit in (training for this isn't going too well).

Happy Wednesday ... uh I mean Thursday.

Wardrobe Wednesday: Week 2

I went preppy today.
Sorry about the ugliness and blurriness.
Maybe next week I'll actually plan the picture.
I hear third time's a charm.

Shirt: J Crew, Skirt: Banana Republic, Shoes that you can't see: DSW

Lately I've been feeling like I have missed the memo. Seriously I just want to yell ...  am I missing something? Insert any subject. Doesn't matter which one. It would apply to me.

Like you know the feeling you have when people look at you and you must have something in your teeth, cause why else would they be looking at you like that?. That is how I feel ... except their looking at Lisa on the inside. My soul (for the lack of a better word) not just the spinach in my teeth. Does that make sense?

Anyway. Happy Wednesday.

Wardrobe Wednesday

My sister, Stephanie and Ally have decided to mix things up this year. Steph came up with Wardrobe Wednesday. What is it? Every wednesday to share what we wore (see her invite above). I am pretty much obsessed with Kendi Everyday. She is my inspiration. I want to be her.

So I've decided to take the challenge. Every Wednesday this year you'll be seeing what I am wearing. That is 52 weeks! Crazy. But we gotta keep this girl entertained.

And warning it will be what I am really wearing...so they may not always be the most fashion forward.

This is me tonight...

Sweatshirt: Washington State Bookstore (circa 2004?)

Anyone else in?
Wardrobe Wednesday.
It's the cool thing to do.

P.S. I have had my Macbook for over a week now and today was the first day I used photo booth. What is wrong with me? I think that could be considered an Apple crime.
