Where Have I Been?

A lot has been going on and my blog has taken a back seat. It makes me sad, really, because this blog and writing is my outlet (well besides running ... which doesn't happen anymore).

So where have I been? What have I been doing? Let me give you a sneak peak.

1. We are slowly, but surely getting more settled into our house ... trying to make it feel more home-y. This addition has helped a lot.

2. Friday date nights are a must, especially when you both are burnt out from the work week. Dinner and a movie? Yes, please!

3. I got this juicer for my birthday and I love it. The ones I have been making for breakfast (sometimes dinner if I don't have time to cook) have been so good! I feel so much healthier using it. .

4. I recently traveled to Atlanta for work and we visited Coca-Cola world. More on that trip later.

5. I voted! This was the first time I have gone to a voting booth to cast my vote. I have only done absentee before. I feel so patriotic now that I have done my civic duty.

6. Full moon in Utah.

7. I have been going without a project. I saw this on pinterest and thought I totally could do that. I think it turned out cute. The best part is that it is not a real pumpkin so I can put it out next year too.

8. For Halloween Scott and I made tomato soup and grilled cheese (his fave) for dinner and handed out Kit Kats (another fave) to the Trick-or-Treaters. Even though only like 15 kids came, it was fun having a house for kids to come ring the doorbell.

Life according to my phone

One of these days I will get away from these boring updates and give you a detailed one. It's just too easy to snap a pic with my phone. So here is an update of my life according to my phone.

1. Fall is officially here and I am loving it. Like it might be my new favorite season. That means my consumption of apples increases by like 500%. I finally found a good place to buy them. I'm kind of an apple snob if you will. It has to be just right. I guess that's just the Washington girl in me.

2. Lia is in town and that means major hook ups on Football tickets. Like front row hook ups. People apparently like her more than me and Gillian. Kidding. Kind of.

3. I am trying to re-establish my love of running. It's hard, but I'm trying. We went up the canyon the other afternoon. It was a BEAUTIFUL run.

4. Lia being back in town also means eating lots and lots of treats. She was so thoughtful and brought us back a Georgetown Cupcake sampling. Amazing. They are hands down the best cupcakes I have ever tried. Better than Sprinkles. Trust me. I know my sugar. After making ourselves sick we sat around that night and let Lia's daughter, Nohea, entertain us.

5. This picture makes me laugh. We went to dinner Saturday night. Upon being seated I noticed there were 4 big screens with sports on. Me, being the amazing wife I am (kidding), switched Scotty seats so he could watch the games. He was in heaven. We're such romantics.

6. We got a calling ... yep. We're in the Nursery. Our ward has 4 Nurseries! Four! They always put the newlyweds in Nursery. I should've seen it coming.

6. Again? I can't count. Wow ... I was going through my iPhoto program the other night and came across these pictures I took of Steph last summer. It mad me want to get back into and learn more about photography.

7. Scotty was nice enough to put together a small dresser for me for our closet. Gotta love IKEA. Luckily this one didn't give us ... errr I mean him ... very many problems. Clearly I was really helpful.

Life According to My Phone

Wow. I officially give life permission to slow down a little right about now. Or at least give me a break. This past week has definitely had its ups and downs. There have been a few occasions where I have come home ranting and raving about one thing or another ... and it always happens to be about the same two things. Good thing I have a great husband who just listens, or laughs at me because I'm being ridiculous, and then helps me remember what is really important in my life.

Anyway, here is my life lately according to my phone.

Scotty turned the Big 3-0 recently. He sure robbed the cradle marrying me ... Ha. Except I'm turning 28 soon. Ugh. I wish we didn't have to work so we could celebrate all day. I mean 30 is a big year, ya know. But alas, it was pretty low key. We met up with some family and went to Cheesecake for dinner, and may have consumed way too much dessert. And I was pretty proud of my craft project I made for him as part of his birthday present.

Utah has been having some pretty crazy weather lately. But beautiful nonetheless. I mean those colors. Awesome. I love fall!

We're slowly but surely getting settled into our new house. I am loving it. Our entire house looked like our kitchen above the first couple days after we moved, but I am hopefully going to (and finally) put things on the walls this week. These prints are going in our half bath. I am obsessed with it.

I don't know why, but I have been super tired lately. I won't tell you how many hours of sleep I got on Saturday night. Way more than any normal person should. But I am loving the fact that I can now snuggle under my covers in my bed and watch a movie.

So I stole this pic ... This past week I have been living vicariously through my sister, who is in NYC. She and her cute friends have been living it up. Being fashion week they had several run-ins with celebrities. Recognize these two?

I don't know why but I love gushers. Weird? Perhaps.

My husband let me go get a pedicure before we headed to the football game on Saturday. I felt so much better afterwards. I went to a new place (since we've moved) and was pretty impressed with them.

Yes that was all pretty random, but a lot has happened.

life according to my phone

1. To say Scotty was excited to see Neil Diamond in concert would be an understatement. Please notice the shirt he HAD to have. We went with the McKell's to the Neil Diamond concert on August 28th (which is now officially Neil Diamond Day in Utah in case you were wondering). It was actually a very fun and entertaining concert. Between the actual concert and the 75 year-old man singing and dancing in front of us, I was completely entertained.

2. We have officially started a SNO for the Johnson sisters. A.K.A. Sisters Night Out!  One evening after work I met Lindsey and Stephanie at City Creek. We went to Blue Lemon and shopped of course! It was so fun!!! It's gonna start becoming a monthly thing. Yaya, you can come this month if you end up coming to Utah.

3. I ran 8 miles! Fist pumps. This was the farthest I have run since the blood clots. I was so proud of myself. It's been pretty rough recovering from it physically. It makes it a lot easier to have friends run with you ... and have Kneaders and a Diet Coke for a reward.

4. We're on the downhill slope of furniture purchasing. Thank goodness! Our dining chairs have been sitting in boxes in our living room for weeks now. I cannot wait to be able to pull them out.

5. I made this Anthropologie knock off to put in our new kitchen. It cost me a whopping $10 to make. I told Scotty it's to remind me in case I ever forget to eat. Oh wait, I NEVER forget to eat.

6. We helped Stephanie move the other night. It was actually a lot of fun! We ended up shoving the queen-sized mattress into the 4Runner and putting the box spring on the top, while me and Stephanie leaned out the window holding onto that box spring.Only in Provo. It was a spectacle for sure!

life according to my phone

1. We've been making boring grown-up purchases. Ugh. I put Scott in charge of the appliances. I told him as long as they kept my food cold and didn't ruin my clothes I didn't care.

2. Last weekend I attended in the Utah Tour De Donut. Yes that is a real event and yes my husband participated. It was the grossest thing I have ever witnessed.

3. We've had a lot of family time lately. It's been fun. This is one of our nieces playing jungle gym on her Uncle Scotty.

4. I love summer! Pool time means that I get to catch up on my celebrity gossip.

5. My obsession with stripes continues. I love this skirt I got at The Limited on clearance.

6. Nordstrom's Anniversary sale was really good to us this year. Not so good to our wallets though. I had to limit myself. Seriously I put things back. I was loving everything I was trying on. I guess it helps when your sister knows her merchandise and what you would like.

7. I found this sign at TJ Maxx. I just laughed cause it explains me completely. I always joke with Scott that I would be an awesome stay-at-home wife. Turns out that's not in the cards. Dang.

8. A fun mid-week lunch with friends.

life according to my phone

1. We've been on the hunt for needed pieces of furniture. We are lucky enough that we already had many big items before we got married (i.e. we each had a bed) and that we are not in any hurry to buy anything. First on the list was a couch and dining table.Within a week we found this dining table at DownEast Home for a steal! And a couch at Macy's for an even better deal! I've never seen Scotty so excited about buying something. We mean serious business when it comes to quality bargain shopping, meaning I want something that will last us longer than a year.

2. Summer is finally here and that means frequent stops by my favorite shave ice shack. It's exactly like Matsumoto's on the island of Oahu. At a loss for flavors? Let me suggest the Guava snow capped shave ice. It will not disappoint. Like seriously I could eat it every day.

3. Sun flare. Clearly I get bored at stop lights and like playing with my phone in my car. 'Nough said.

4. Have I mentioned that I am related to some amazingly talented people? My sister-in-laws all play the violin. Angie and Chrissy both had solos at their last concerto concert. I had to ask what that meant, but it means the whole orchestra accompanies them. They're kinda a big deal. I definitely am not going to be contributing any talent of that sort in the gene pool.

5. I woke up early Saturday morning (like 4:30 a.m. early) to drop off one of my sister-in-laws, her friends and Scotty at the start line for the Utah Valley Half Marathon. Scotty decided to run it at 10 p.m. on Friday night! No joke. I waited for them at the finish line. I knew Scotty would finish, but I was nervous he wouldn't have a good experience ... or even worse injur himself before the Ragnar race this weekend. Luckily he enjoyed the run and he wasn't really even sore! Being in that race environment re-motivated me to push through my running slump. I didn't like being the one waiting at the finish line. I'd rather cross it.

6. I am in young women's now at church (they are the teenage girls in our congregation). On Sunday I gave my first lesson and made these handouts. I thought they turned out cute. I was so nervous! I was hoping that these handouts might distract from the fact that I'm not that great at teaching lessons. I remember keeping all my handouts from young women's from when I was a teenager. I still have them somewhere in my parents house.

life according to my phone

1. On our honeymoon Scott and I were interviewed by the TV show The Drs. We both didn't think we would actually air cause we never returned their phone calls, but my sister happened to have the TV on when I was talking with her one day and she screamed and was like ... Lisa you were just on TV!!! We're pretty much famous.

2. While Scott was out of town last week I had dinner with a couple friends throughout the week. It was so fun catching up with them. In the matter of minutes I fell in love with this little guy!

3. I also had this brilliant idea to make a maxi skirt. They only have a few seams so how hard could it be to make, right? Let's just say I am not wearing that thing anytime soon. It looks like something straight out of Little House on the Prairie. I think I need stick with quilts from now on.

4. I am starting to seriously contemplate furniture purchases. It's a good thing I don't have a bigger car ... otherwise I'd be in big trouble.

5. and 6. On Saturday I went shopping with my sister and one of my nieces. That girl is a crack up. At the grocery store she knew exactly how to get a free cookie from the bakery. Yep. She already knows how to work the system.

7. This picture, sent to me from NYC, made my heart melt. (p.s. Nohea girl has given me unrealistic expectations for motherhood).

8. Got a bouquet of pretty flowers when Scott got back from New York. I sure felt loved!

9. I may have bought a pair of aviators while shopping on Saturday. I am kinda obsessed with them.
